In a recent interview with XXL, Cash Money presidente Birdman spoke on the possibility of an upcoming collaboration album featuring Young Money’s Drake and Lil Wayne. Now, their musical chemistry is undeniable, considering every track the two have put out together has been a hit.Yet many of the Lil Wayne collabo albums that were supposed to happen in the past have not panned out, according to Wayne’s daddy this one is, “…definitely going to get done.”

While still on the topic of big collaborations, it would have been impossible for Birdman to not touch on Watch The Throne. When drawing comparisons between the Jay/Kanye album and Wayne and Drake’s forthcoming project, the YM figurehead says, “Its older versus younger.”

He went on to say,

“I listened to a few songs [off Watch The Throne] and it feels like an older feel to me. I think with Drake and Wayne, they young. They young cats. You got 23 and 28. Then you got Jay-Z and them, who are older and really on their way out the game. Then you got Wayne and Drake and them, who are still youthful to the game. So, it’s two different types of music all the way across the board.

“But what they’re doing is great,” he added. “I think it’s great for the game, great for the business, great for retail as a whole. I just think when Wayne and Drake get together is going to be something real special also because we more youthful.”

Considering Watch The Throne hits store shelves worldwide today, I am sure that will keep us preoccupied for some time. Young Money on the other hand has all their focus turned to Weezy’s August 29th release date for CarterIV which is closely followed by Take Care, set to drop on October 24th, Drakes birthday. So I guess it is safe to say those LPs will hold us over until the collabo LP drops.
