Former Baltimore Oriole pitcher Mike Flanagan has died at the age of 59.

The Cy Young award winner and World Series Champion was found dead outside of his Monkton, MD home Wednesday afternoon by authorities and declared dead. Flanagan also served tenures as a front office executive, coach, and most recently commentator for the acclaimed Baltimore franchise.

This news comes as great sadness to Orioles fans, players, and baseball figures alike. Baltimore icon Cal Ripken had this to say,

“I am so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. He was a good friend and teammate,” said Hall of Fame third baseman Cal Ripken Jr., a former teammate of Flanagan’s. “… Mike was an Oriole through and through and he will be sorely missed by family, friends and fans. This is a sad day.”

May he rest in peace. His legacy will live in Baltimore sports lore forever. Cheers.
