Last night in LA at the 11th annual BMI Urban Awards, hands down the biggest winner of the evening was Drake. Over the last few years, the Young Money superstar has blown up on an immense scale. Going from his free mix tape So Far Gone, to becoming a world-renowned icon, it feels like we the fans have watched Drizzy grow up before our eyes.

Being one of the most cerebral, lyrical people in the game right now, it was only fitting that BMI awarded Drake with the acclaimed Songwriter of the Year award. After fittingly praising his mother, Kanye West, Andre 3000, and even Little Brother’s Phonte, the versatile vassal of music took some shots at former Universal Motown suit Sylvia Rhone, who at the fledgling stage of career told him he would amount to nothing. Well, I’d say that was a pretty inaccurate prediction.
